Macalister 4WD Touring and Social Club (Mac4WD) was formed in the early 1990's.

The Aims of the club are to strongly support the activities and principles of Four-Wheel Drive Victoria and provide facilitation for 4WD owners within the Shire of Wellington to enjoy this wonderful recreational activity in a rewarding and responsible manner.

We follow the 'Tread Lightly principles' and sustainable four-wheel driving and camping.
We welcome all types of 4WD vehicles. We also welcome people from all demographics; from the youngest to the matured 'grey haired' and beyond. Families, retirees and all in between, and those who wish to learn a great social sport under safe and legal conditions.

Macalister 4WD, Touring and Social Club embraces the words:

Four-Wheel Drive - to promote and advance the use of four-wheel drives as a responsible recreation.

Touring - some members have caravans or camper-trailers and use them for basecamps, weekend trips, and touring as a group.

Social Club - this is a very important part of our activities and is integral with all our events.

The club arranges regular one day or extended trips which are generally within the Greater Gippsland Region ranging from very easy/medium 4WD trips with the occasional difficult one; however, the usual reason for the event is to experience the wonders that the Australian bush provides, and not to test the vehicle or the driver.

The club undertakes to support the Land Managers, such as Parks Victoria and DEECA in volunteer duties such as ‘Camp Hosting’, 'Track Clearing', 'Clean Up the Bush' and other activities through cooperation with government, local organisations and Four-Wheel Drive Victoria.

Training is provided by Mac4WD Club Instructors in Basic 4WD operation and techniques, and by FWDV Accredited Instructors in subjects including "4WD Proficiency", Chainsaw Operations", "Track Classification", and "First Aid".
